Basically Utau and her big brother (Ikuto) all but grew up with a neighbor kid called Tadase. Utau and Utau both developed their passion for music and their talent for it from their father who was a gifted violinist. Unfortunately he left when Utau was very young to bring his gift of music to the world at large, leaving his family behind.
Their mother did her best, ish, but the kids spent more and more time with Tadase. But Tadase's mother hated them and blamed them for everything. Called them evil kids. Was very verbally abusive, and tried to convince the rest of the family that they were bad children. But Tadase's grandmother was the matriarch and she adored them. So they stayed over a lot. Until both the family dog, and the grandmother died. Ikuto played a dirge out of respect when he found the dog, and that led Tadase (who was the youngest of the three) to think he killed the dog, the ensuing fight was too much for the grandmother and she died as well. Tadase's mother then took over and kicked them out.
Unable to raise them on her own, Utau and Ikuto's mother remarried. (But not really, but Utau doesn't know that yet.) Utau's stepfather was a very driven man who seemed only to serve the head of a company called Easter, who no one but him ever got to see. Most people thought he actually was the head, though Utau has been sort of in the head of Easter's presence (but not enough to know the truth, and that whole tangle is a whole other mess that I can and will skip. Mostly cause she knows very little of it.)
The head of Easter wanted the Embryo - a magical egg that can grant any wish made by the one who holds it. So the stepfather decided to get it at any cost for the boss. Basically picture Giovani from Pokemon and you more or less have the stepfather. At least as Utau sees him. And she... became a rocket grunt in that analogy.
The Stepfather made both of his step kids work to try to find the Embryo. He was convinced that it was the Hearts' Egg of a special child. And his team discovered that Utau's singing could draw the Hearts' Egg out of children who listen to her if she performs while joined with one of her two Shugo Charas, a little devil named Il/Iru depending on the translation.
If her job was bad, Ikuto's was worse. Any Hearts' Egg she drew forth that wasn't the Embryo became blackened and violent. There was no way that Easter knew to purify the eggs and put them back, but they were dangerous. So Ikuto's job was to hunt them down and destroy them. Which meant killing the dreams of the child the egg came from. Causing a depression like state from which, in theory, the child would NEVER recover.
To Utau, Ikuto was all she had in the world. Tadase had turned his back on them, their father left, their mother was useless, their step father used them for evil ends. So Ikuto was her only shining light. And the stepfather USED THIS.
He pushed her more and more into a frenzy over her brother, and used him as both the carrot and the stick. If she did her job, she probably got to see him because he had to do his. No real time together, but getting to see he was alive and well. He kept them seperated otherwise as best he could. Also he kept telling her if she got the Embryo, he would free Ikuto forever. But if she refused to try, her brother would be the one punished.
As she became a teenager this got twisted. She thought for years she was IN LOVE WITH her brother and wanted to marry him, and kept trying to kiss him, forcibly. Thankfully for all involved, her brother was older and could see the writing on the wall and NOPED THE NOPE OUT OF THAT MESS.
Utau is one of the few with two Charas. She has the devil chara Il, who speaks to her willingness to do evil things to get what she wants. But her other one El/Eru is an angel. The part of her that HATES using her music for evil, that wants to use her music to touch people. The part of her that wants to be good. The part of herself she suppresses while working for Easter.
She falls in deeper and deeper with Easter, losing the light so badly at one point that El goes off to her mortal enemy, Amu-chan (Amu can purify the eggs, is free of Easter, and worst of all Ikuto seems to be way too fond of her. Also she's Tadase's friend... so...) meanwhile one of Amu's eggs corrupted and went to Utau. Until this point, when Utau wound up with Dia and Amu wound up with El, NO ONE KNEW THIS COULD EVEN HAPPEN. More, they could both chara nari (transform) with each other's Charas!
Without El's influence towards the light, Utau fell further into the dark. Dia made her more powerful then ever and eventually Il defected as well, fed up of never being the one Utau used.
In a huge climatic battle against Amu and the rest of the Guardians (This was during Fujisaki's absence, so neither Nadeshiko nor Nagihiko was there for this, they learned about it later) All of the Charas abandoned Utau. Everyone stood against her. And then... The Embryo appeared. Or so they thought. The race to get it, and then almost dying in a helicopter crash and having to save her manager... it just all was too much for Utau.
She basically said "Forget this, forget Easter. Ikuto is a big boy, he can break free himself! (He was helping Amu against her at some points!!!) I'm done. That's it, I'm done." And she moved out, walked away from Easter and her step father and tried to make it as a musician on her own. Her manager quit too. (As did Ikuto's handler who was her manager's ex, and Kairi who was the manager's nephew.) Ikuto couldn't leave, but as of her canon point Utau does not know that her defection meant that Ikuto was kept on a very short leash and that Easter had begun experimenting on him. All she knew was that he stopped coming to see her. Like... ever. She did her best to gracefully step aside for Amu... which she wasn't good at when faced with Ikuto in person, but again.... she almost never saw him.
Easter blocked pretty much every avenue she had for getting gigs though, and she went from international sensation to shunned by the industry in a single night.
She is taken from this point, as regrets and doubts about breaking free are eating at her. Because she and her manager sure aren't eating much, at all, both being out of work and all.
Please list and explain the three worst (morally) things your character has ever done: Whooo boy, buckle up.
Trying to force her physical affections on her brother
Using her songs for evil knowing full well that she was destroying an essential part of her fans' souls/hearts.
Stealing Amu's Chara and abandoning her own. Yes the Charas are parts of their bearers, but they also have their won emotions and motivations and she hurt El and Il pretty badly.
Please list and explain the three best (morally) things your character has ever done.:
As a child she used her song to soothe young Tadase, and to make him smile. He loved when she sang, and her brother loved when she sang, so she did her best to make everyone around her happy with her songs.
Leaving Easter. Best and hardest thing she ever did. Even though it had bad consequences, it was still a brave and wonderful act.
Trying, after leaving Easter, to help the Guardians ease the hearts of Children with her songs.
Please put the six things above on a timeline relevant to each other:

Do you consider your character a hero, an anti-hero, a good aligned side kick, a bystander, a victim, a fence sitter, a mercenary, an evil aligned side kick, a villain, or something else? Why?:She is a former merc in a lot of ways. She didn't do what she did for money - though she had been paid - but she did it to get what she wanted, even when she knew it was wrong. She is now on the path of either a hero or antihero, though she doesn't see that herself. At this point she could swing back the other way. She's also in part a victim. Basically, she's a complicated mess. She's at the start of a redemption arc, but has not yet earned it.
Do you think your character should start on the Isle or in Auradon? Why?: Isle. She hasn't yet earned Auradon.
Which of those two would you prefer your character to start in?: Isle. I want her to meet Morgs, and I want the conflict when Auradon kids come to the Isle and Fujisaki sees her.
Are you still interested in having this character in this game at this time if that preference is not met?: Yep
Powers and Abilities:
Her charas: they can act independently of her, they can fly. They can't be seen by most people but the effects they have on the world often can be. And they can force a chara change or chara nari on her.
Chara-change and Chara Nari (for general info please see NAdeshiko/Nagihiko's app)
Her specific chara naris allow her to (IL) steal the Hearts' Eggs from kids, and use a bunch of magical girl based dark attacks And (EL) purify things, such as turned Hearts eggs, defensive abilities, flight, minor healing Should Dia show up in game as X-Dia, I will update as needed. But her Black Diamond powers cannot be used without Dia.
On the Isle, without her powers... her charas will be trapped in their Eggs, which will be much tougher than normal eggs but not invulnerable. Destroying them would be killing part of her soul. Without her powers she is still an amazing singer and dancer and very athletic. She also has stubbornness strong enough to choke an ox.
What clothing/items did your character arrive with? (See rules and FAQ for what is allowed, feel free to ask if you are unsure):
She arrives with her Eggs, of course. Probably a rechargeable mic that will quickly become useless, her wallet, and a tiny bit of pocket change. Clothing wise, Layers, with a bit of a funky look, still need to pick the actual outfit, hair ties for her twin tails, and slightly oversized sunglasses. Possibly a hat. Cellphone with pictures. Charging cable, but no charging brick.
Optional- What do you have to keep in mind when playing this character?: At this canon point she's chosen good, but she's questioning. Not yet aware she's crushing on Kukai, not yet fully over being sure she was in love with her big brother.
What mod candy, if any, does your character bring? (Aka what elements would you really like to see us play with?): The possible conflict with Nadeshiko, and how interestingly I think she'll fit with the world in general and the characters in specific.
What else do you think the mods should know about your character or their canon?: She's like 15... but most of the time acts more like a stubborn 20, and looks closer to 18. A skinny not very curvy 18, but tall for her age and her face matured pretty early. Plus she's used to making herself seem older with makeup where possible, and how she carries herself.
